ARTE is a European public service channel dedicated to culture. Every year, 400+ movies and 1000+ hours of live broadcasts, performing arts, documentaries and culture magazine shows are delivered in 6 languages. ARTE VOD is ARTE’s OTT service to offer on-demand access to their cultural programs on set-top boxes.









Designing a video-on-demand application available only on set-top boxes is an interesting challenge, given the strong hardware constraints. Indeed, the wide variety of remote controls greatly limits the range of commands available, while the limited computing power available of set-top boxes imposes severe constraints on the display and animation performance of the graphical interface.
